Relation To Books Toss
When golden boy Derek Brody signs a $6 million dollar deal to play for the New York Stars, the rookie quarterback figures the world is his oyster. Reality sets in after meeting his football "family" -- the all-too benevolent owner, Papa Goldman; his daughter, the Stars' Director of Communications, Dominique, who has a certain fondness for quarterbacks; a frustrated head coach; a team full of malcontents and racial tensions; and a very shady Director of Player Personnel. But all of his concerns become secondary when an ex-Stars quarterback is murdered, and Brody finds himself hustling just to stay alive, while confronting the scars of his own past. With a little luck, smarts, and help from a beautiful aspiring actress, this is one time he can't drop the ball. Someone seems intent on sabotaging the Stars, and perhaps the future of entire football league is at stake.
Retired gridiron great Boomer Esiason has delivered a sharp, edgy, insiders look at the game and the business of professional football.

Review title: Dirty ballThe "Toss" in the title of this little-known novel by NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason doesn't refer to touchdown passes. Toss, also co-written by Lowell Cauffiel, provides a look at every sordid angle of the dirty side of the NFL: felons on the field, gamblers in the locker room, incompetents in the coach's office, and double-dealing mob murderers in the front office. In the ten-plus years since Esiason wrote this book we've seen all of this stuff on Sportscenter, but itGood football fiction is hard to find. This was a fun read, although the plot is a little contrived. Aspects of this novel would appear in the movie "Any Given Sunday".Review title: Dirty ballThe "Toss" in the title of this little-known novel by NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason doesn't refer to touchdown passes. First off, let me say that I have been a very big fan of Boomer Esiason since the latter years of his career, when I was in high school. I have an admiration and respect for him and his talent on the football field, as well as what he has done in the media, in football and sports commentary, and how he has served his community, what he has done for children and charities. That said, as a writer who has just self-published his first novel, I also have an admiration for his writing style (I
The characters were great. good story. the ending could of been better.
Not nearly as bad as one would think even if the ending was disappointingly anticlimactic.
