This really got me interested in following the story of the Keepers!The detail was amazing! I loved reading all the descriptions of the village and the people in it. The love between Swift Foot and Shining Star is so intense and beautiful. It is a great introduction to the rest of the series because it makes me want to know how the rest of the story plays out. When I read K.R. Thompson's stories she makes the "paranormal" and "fantastical" happenings seem like something that could actually

great prequel for the series but it's only about 50 pages, the remaining 40+ pages are the start of book one - which is where I started so skimmed, didn't re-read Book 1.

This was an awesome short pleasure to read. This Novella is a prequel to Thompson's Keeper Saga and gives us the history of how the Wolf Gift/Curse depending on how you see it, came to be. We meet Swiftfoot and Shining Star who are very much in love and then tragically torn from each others arms. This particular part of the book is heartbreaking, the love between Swiftfoot and Shinihg Star is immense and the goodness of her spirit is admirable. You will ache for Swiftfoot's loss. This prequel is interesting, but rather routine. While the writing style is great, the story left me feeling like I had already read it before. Having said that, I will also say that I do like the characters, the way the story flows, and the attention to detail. The writer obviously has talent, but it just seems to be a bit muted here. As the Native American shifters are a favorite subject of mine, I will most likely give the series a try and hope the muting is only present for this prequel.It

Lost LoveSwift Foot loved Shining Star with all his heart and on their wedding day, her sister practiced dark magic and seeming to be a huge bear pushed her off the mountain to her death.
