For Nikki Donovan, being a teenager can be hell. Literally.Nikki didn't thinks her life could get any more complicated after she moved to the dreary town of Erin Heights - fitting in at a new school while navigating the social scene was stressful enough. But when her sixteenth birthday rolls around, she's visited by a mysterious stranger, Michael, who tells her that her long-lost father is actually the demon king of the Shadowlands - the dimension that protects our world from the Underworld and Hell.
Maybe it's because she's in shock, or maybe it's because Michael is seriously cute, but Nikki follows him into the Shadowlands. There she learns about her half-demon powers, about the potential war between the Shadowlands and the Underworld, and that her father wants her to assume the throne - forever. Not to mention that her growing crush on Michael is completely forbidden....
Ruling the kingdom, navigating a secret crush, and still making it home by curfew - what's a teenage demon princess to do?

Oddly enough, I didn't truly mind this novel. It's harmless by all means. A story we read so many times before, a girl suddenly finds out she has powers/she is royalty/she is blah blah blah but this was different. Not too sure why. The shadow bodyguard element was unique but that whole forbidden romance thing was just over used and done. Check it out if you like supernatural YA's, you don't be disappointed. When I got this book, admittedly, I was excited to read it. I'd read the synopsis on Goodreads, and I was thinking how great of a book it was going to be. And, unsurprisingly, it was. The aspect of the story wasn't anything new--I've read tons of demon-related books this past year, but I have to say that this was one that I rank in the 'best' list. I liked Nikki; she was funny, and she thought logically. She wasn't irrational (cough; cough, Bella Swan), and her feeling were relatable and
I thought it sounded interesting in Publisher's Weekly, but I after seeing the cover I had SERIOUS doubts. These doubts transformed into disparaging contempt after two chapters.Yup, that's all it took.See, the main character is all, 'oooh i'm POPULAR and the 'cutest boy in school' kissed me and there's another hot guy following me telling me I'm a demon princess even though I look like a normal POPULAR human teenager so I'm going to not believe him' and then after a while you know she'll see

so far i really like it
A demon Princess? This is something we don't hear of everyday. So when a mysterious, but cute, guys begins following Nikki around every where, she gets annoyed. So when she confronts him, she's hoping for an "I'm sorry." Not a "You're the Demon Princess and you're in danger." Thus begins this in thrilling tale of Nikki and her new found news, not to mention her powers. I am happy to report that I enjoyed this novel a lot. It's a great beginning to a series I think many will enjoy reading. It
EDIT: Okay, My review sounds sort of cruel. It simply was not my cup of tea. My friend on the other hand loved it. Everyone has differing opinions. Back to my cruel review.------------------------------------------Why did I ever read this book? I mean the title reveals it all, including: Dont read me. I'm shit." I really should stop picking books that Richelle Mead quotes on the front cover and states something along the lines of: Demons , magic and sexy guys. This is a series I definitely want
The concept is interesting if not original. A princess, wow, every girl (okay, in the interests of...well, everyone) almost every girl dreams about being a princess though I'm pretty sure none (okay, fine, almost none) of them dream about having "Demon" attached to the princess tag. Nikki didn't either. In fact, as far as she was concerned, her father was a player who played her mother and left her with nothing except a baby and some pretty awesome memories she is unable to forget in spite of
