Simply delightful and highly recommended to fans of The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Other Crowd are not all goodness and light. You won't find the Victorian interpretation of them here.I really enjoy the way this book is set up. You have Good Faeries on one side, flip the book over and there are the Bad Faeries. I was guided to read the Bad Faeries first, then gave myself the evening to let it all sink in, continuing my journey with the Good Faeries the next day. This has some of the most beautiful artwork ever - he is a master. He was also the creative consultant for the film Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.....I will always be reading this book & finding new aspects to the pictures.

I am someone who is often doodling creatures in the corners of my notepads. I feel the touch of magic return to these creations after reading this book. Froud encourages the reader not to see sketches as flat shapes, but rather as ethereal beings captured in time by those that have second sense to see them.

This book is supposed to be like an eclectic catalog of all the faeries the author has encountered, a long with some insight into the origins of fairies, and the ways they influence our day to day lives. Some of them are really obvious (like A Tongue Tangler, or A Pang of Regret) others are a little more obscure and based in the mythological history of various countries.
