Montmorency On The Rocks: Doctor, Aristocrat, Murderer? by Elanor Updale, is centered in london around 1885. The same goes for the main plot of the book. I really liked this book because it was tied into historySequel to "Montmorency: Thief Liar Gentleman?" Montmorency and his gentleman friends, Lord George Fox-Selwyn and Doctor Farcett, find themselves caught up in two mysteries: Who is responsible for the bombings at King's Cross train station and Waterloo? And what is causing the babies of Tarimond to die? The Tarimond mystery is much more involved and compelling while the bombing mystery seems wrapped up too neatly, the solution convenient. Yay for pbswap, I didn't have to wait long on the wishlist to get this one. I waited to read it, for a few weeks at least, before I couldn't resist any longer. At first, I was sort of wanting to hear more of Montmorency and Fox-Selwyn's adventures in spy work in foreign countries. Still think that would've been fascinating. Definitely not what I was hoping for after enjoying the first book so much. I didn't like all of the drug use and still don't understand it's place in the story. I'm disappointed in this one and don't know if I'll continue with the series or not.
