Narrative As Books xxxHolic, Vol. 11 (xxxHOLiC #11)

Volume 11 of xxxHolic by CLAMP was the point where I realized I could no longer ignore Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, the crossover manga series. So much of Watanuki's life depends on decisions made by Syaoran, Sakura and the others. Their actions are even starting to affect Yuko and her shop.

Things are also fundamentally changed with Dômeki and Himawari. Watanuki has always suspected they are opposing forces in his life but he had their effects on him reversed.

Volume 11 has two dominant themes: generation loss, in the sense of details being lost every time a copy is made, and dreams versus reality. Both of these themes are playing in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle as well.

Although there are some huge plot twists, Volume 11 keeps with the short story format. Amongst all of this heart stopping drama, there is a typical early series ghost story. A young client comes in worried about strange voices in her home. She's given some bells to wear. She insists that they don't work. Back and forth she goes until a great Twilight Zone style reveal.

Write-Up Epithetical Books xxxHolic, Vol. 11 (xxxHOLiC #11)
Pretty interesting and really good manga! Really love the art style and story! Really addicting manga😻👻👻😁❤❤

Reread 2011. Mostly, this volume is about Watanuki giving people presents and Yûko makes vague ominous comments. Watanuki gives Himawari a bird, the bird a name (Tampopo), the jealous pipe fox a name (Mugetsu), and various people White Day presents or other return presents: the fox cub, Himawari, Dômeki. Gloves and mittens. He knitted them himself. (Of course he did.) Yûko gives Dômeki the egg, and instructions on using it we don't hear. Watanuki begins to mix up reality and dreams. There's also

xxxHOLiC is a very charming series, and all of this series's better features were apparent in this manga. While I don't think it's really a standout within the series, it's only by this series's standards. If there is one complaint I have (and it's really not specific to this volume, but the series in general), the veiled warnings from Yuuko that something is coming get a little annoying. I think this is a stylistic thing by CLAMP (Chobits had the same problem, if I recall correctly), but the

This is the point where I went, "okay either I'm just used to CLAMP or the story has finally sunk into something darker and more interesting."I love Watanuki and a lot of other CLAMP main characters, but I'm not always super endeared to the "humor" of Yelling Dork Ignores His Kinda Sorta Pretty Gay Feelings. I think volume 10 and onward we start to see more of a serious Watanuki (and Rou is nothing but serious Watanuki and also all of my crying.)

This volume seems to be filled with a lot of filler stories (Watanuki's gift to Himawari, haunted houses, and his birthday), but we see a few real plot advances. The crew from the Tsubasa story are showing up more frequently, and Yuko keeps implying that their story is connected to Watanuki, but we aren't seeing any concrete development yet. Watanuki's relationship with Himawari also gets a bit sinister when she walks off with Domeki (during a dream-fainting episode) and is confronted by him

This volume begins with Chapter 121-132.That's all for now until I hit editing mode...Ta-ta Pretties!

Oooh thats a nice twist on the "ghosts in the house" tale hmm....
