Narration As Books Angelina Ballerina (Angelina Ballerina)
Originally published in 1983, and then presented in this 25th Anniversary Edition in 2008, this first story about that dancing mouse, Angelina Ballerina, is immensely charming. Always dancing, always moving, Angelina is the despair of her mother, as she causes destruction wherever she goes with her arabesques, and is always running late because she is imagining her life as a ballerina. Then Mrs. Mousling speaks to Mr. Mouseling, and they cook up a plan: they will give Angelina a beautiful ballet dress and shoes, and send her to classes. This has positive results, and not just in the short term...I've been aware of Angelina Ballerina and its many sequels for quite some times now, but am only just now getting around to picking it up. How glad I am that I have, as I found Katharine Holabird's story sweet, and Helen Craig's artwork adorable. I particularly loved all the little details in the scenes depicting the Mouselings' home, and was reminded a bit of Jill Barklem's work, in the Brambly Hedge books. Young ballet enthusiasts will take this one to heart, but so will children who enjoy stories about mice and other little animals.

Angelina Ballerina is about a young girl (mouse) who is having trouble listening to her parents because she feels the need to constantly be dancing. She is constantly being scolded by her parents and others for not doing what she is supposed to. Then one day, she is given the gift of ballet shoes and dance lessons and she could not be happier. From then on she went to ballet every day and got her dancing out of her system so when she got home she could listen to her parents and do what she'sI first heard of Angelina Ballerina by Katharine Holabird through the animated series. We were in Bend, Oregon on a trip. Harriet was getting over a stomach bug and I was coming down with one. We were holed up in our hotel room eating take out and watching kids television. Harriet was just learning to walk at the time. I don't know if her first exposure to Angelina Ballerina made any lasting impression or not.Fast forward two and a half years to Harriet being in preschool. She started taking a
Genre: Modern FantasyGrade Level: PreK-2This is a really fun book! I like how Angelina has a dream to be a ballerina and is determined to achieve it no matter what. I think it is funny that she is willing to practice anywhere and anytime throughout the day, even when she falls into the flowers or the food. I think it is great that Angelina's parents allow her to start taking ballet lessons, and once they do that suddenly Angelina is much better behaved. I really like how the story ends with

Angelina Ballerina is a super cute book that is about a girl who is in love with ballet. Growing up, Angelina loved dancing. She danced everywhere she went and did not want to do anything else. Her parents thought of the idea to send her to ballet school! Ballet helped Angelina learn how to balance dance and the rest of her life. She began doing what her mother asked her to do and started being on time. I would definitely recommend this book! It is so enjoyable and cute to read!
This is a sweet book about a mouse that dances all the time instead of doing what she is supposed to be doing like cleaning her room or getting ready for school. When her parents give her an outlet for that talent and interest, she starts doing as she is supposed to do. The book has beautiful drawings and add to the story. I really like how the coloring changed when Angelina reached her goal.Overall, it's a good story. It's missing that little extra that would make it great but it would make a
Angelina Ballerina is a story about a young mouse who dreamt of being a ballerina. Angelina would dance all over the house, forgetting tasks that she was asked to do, and making a mess of her mothers things. Her mother, Mrs. Mouseling began to see her dancing as a nuisance. Mr. and Mrs. Mouseling signed Angelina up for ballet lessons and she was overjoyed. She was so busy dancing in her class that she didn't feel like she needed to dance at home. From then on she went to school on time and did
