Relation Concering Books Thicker Than Water (Briar Creek Vampires #2)

What I liked:
-The beginning. Lexi waking up in the hospital was enough to draw me into the second book in this series. The opening chapter created a sense of mistrust and secrecy that was present throughout the rest of the book. Lexi learned early on that she couldn’t trust anyone other than herself, and I felt like she might have matured a little because of Gabe’s betrayal.
-The ending. To me, the final chapter was the best part of the book. It was the only part where something actually seemed to happen. I could feel the danger Lexi was in and I could feel her growing mistrust of those around her. And that final page was interesting and unexpected enough to lead me into the next book. Honestly, I never saw that coming, but it was a great twist.
-Lexi. She kind of grew on me in this book. Probably because she wasn’t lusting after four boys at once and she was no longer slut-shaming Mary-Kate. That greatly improved my liking of her. She was a little smarter than in the first book, and she was more open-minded about her situation and she was able to consider things she wouldn’t have before.

What I disliked:
-Plot. Once again, I felt like the plot didn’t really progress anywhere. It all seemed to revolve around Lexi whining about her aunt’s unfair rules, thinking about Gabe, lusting after other guys she knew, and not really doing anything. Her life was supposedly in constant danger, but her attitude didn’t really reflect that. She should have constantly been worrying about being killed, but the only times she really seemed to think about it was when someone tried to hurt her, but she quickly forgot about it.
-Writing style. It seemed a little stiff and robotic to me. There was hardly any emotion in the words I was reading. Instead of showing that Lexi was scared, or excited, or happy, or sad, we were told she was feeling those things. This book had a bad case of “telling” and needed more “showing”. And there seemed to be a few instances were words were repeated improperly, but as far as self-publishing goes, the editing in this was probably better than a lot I’ve read.

Overall, this was a pretty average book. It wasn’t anything special, but I think it was worth the dollar I paid for it. It’s a standard vampire romance novel that features a non-special heroine, a dark and broody hero, and a case of insta-love. But it was intriguing enough for me to purchase the next book in the series, so I guess I would recommend this to hardcore vampire fans. 3.0

Still the same old strange series. I think Lexi is an idiot half the time. I would of bailed out a long time ago and a locked door wouldn't have stopped me in the least. I'd have a constant stake attached to me as well.

A lot more is coming together in this book, while the plot continues with various twist and turns. It keeps you guessing. I like it!

i could not putany of these books down. they are amazing. strong female character. keep them coming.

Thicker Than Water picks up right where Kiss of Death left off. All the stuff I said in the review for Kiss of Death still apply to this book.I read this book rather quickly, I liked the story line, I liked that its an easy read, and again the ending leaves an impossible cliff hanger. I got to the last page and wanted the third book. I contacted one of the authors because my daughter wanted to know when the third book was coming out and she said they are shooting for the end of this month

Loved this book as well! Thank god we start to get answers in this book. Loved the ending :) And same for the other book, after i finished i had started to read the next. Your doing a great job Jayme :)

After the cliffhanger ending from the first book, this is a great start to the second book in the series! The book starts off with Lexi having a dream-like experience where she sees her mom and Austin. Both of them give her clues and warnings as to what is to come. Lexi then wakes up in the hospital with amnesia. Lexi's aunt and uncle treat her better right after the accident but her aunt insists she goes back to work immediately which seems quite strange. Gabe is missing from the accident seen

Lexi's character improved. She matured a little and started focusing on what was important and spent less time worrying about the boys in her life. I was glad to see things finally start to happen.
