Commentary In Favor Of Books A Lady of Esteem (Hawthorne House #0.5)

Miss Amelia Stalwood may live in London at her absent guardian's townhouse, but she's never actually met any nobility, and instead of aristocrats, her closest friends are servants. Quite by happenstance, she's introduced to the Hawthorne family and their close family friend, Anthony, the reformed marquis of Raeburn. They welcome her into their world, but just as she's beginning to gain some confidence and even suspect she may have caught Anthony's eye, she's blindsided by an unexpected twist in her situation accompanied by nasty rumors. Will she lose her reputation when the world that has only just accepted her turns its back on her, or will she rest in the support of the friends who've become like family and the man who's shared his faith and captured her heart?

A Lady of Esteem is an e-only novella that gives an exciting introduction to Kristi Ann Hunter's new Regency romance series about the aristocratic Hawthorne family! Includes an extended excerpt of Kristi's debut full-length novel, A Noble Masquerade.

Judge Epithetical Books A Lady of Esteem (Hawthorne House #0.5)
Kindle freebie May 2016. I wasn't expecting the very strong religious content in this Regency romance novella. The hero is a former rake, now a devout Christian trying to live down his past; the heroine a socially inept young woman who has been raised in isolation, and whose only friends have been the servants. It's okay if you like that kind of thing, it was just too implausible for me. It's not very deep (in fairness, few books in this genre are). Probably the biggest problem was that I didn't

Good, for a novella.Novellas are not my favorite genre and this one illustrates that perfectly. Had this been a full length novel, with proper character development, it would probably rated five stars. But, everything happened too quickly. I really liked Amelia, but there wasn't enough of her. I will, however read more of Kristi Ann Hunter's books; I'm intrigued, which was probably the intent of this novella.

4.5 starsI really enjoyed this sweet novella. It has humor and heart, which makes me even more eager to read A Noble Masquerade!

2nd reading: 4.5/5I enjoyed this novella even more the second time around, and wish that it were a full novel in itself. This was the first book of the Hawthorne House series I read, and now having finished all of them I can say that Amelia is my favorite protagonist. She is sweet, caring, loyal, and oh-so-relatable: I love how she struggles to be brave on her own but eventually finds her strength in the Lord and her new family. I also love the way she cares for the servants and those typically

Cute and funnyAwesome intro novella. Love heroine Amelia. She's quirky and fun to read. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Great story and a nice introduction to the characters of the series!

A fun novella. I'm very interested in reading Kristi's next book to see what happens with Miranda. I liked the characters in this book and for being a short read, it was great.
