The art is amazing. The scenes are beautiful, and the details are very well done. Moriyama is incredibly talented.

The characters are a bit cliche, but lovable. I am not usually one to become emotionally attached to characters, but those of Chrono Crusade quickly changed that. Each character has obvious flaws and strong points.

If you don't separate reality's idea of the Christian church from the manga's idea of it, you will probably not enjoy the series. The author completely changes the idea of Christianity and Catholicism and uses them as a platform for exorcism and demon-hunting. As a Christian, this bothered me at first, and made the start of the series somewhat confusing, but I soon learned that I had to look at the manga as a separate reality.

I was so involved in this story that I vaguely recall possibly crying at the end. What an endearing tale this turned out to be. Chrono Crusade is my favorite manga of all time.

As a side note, I did not like the anime nearly as much.

I love this series, but this first volume is a bit of a slow start.

everyone has a weird anime they really loved in high school that no one else even gave a thought to... this was mine. i'm re-reading the manga now. :)

Great first book! I loved the anime, and I can tell I'm going to really enjoy the manga as well! The story in this book seems to be progressing rather more quickly than in the anime, which is actually nice, it flows with more sense this way. Its interesting to me that in the anime, Rosette was always the one to suggest opening the seal on Chrno's power and Chrno fought against it, but in the manga it seems to be reversed. This makes for a very different dynamic between them than I'm used to, and

A very good start. I like the angel lore and the snippets of real-world events (like the prophecy) that inspired the storyline. Rosette is pretty great as well, so far.

Great start for a wonderful story:D Still I had a sense that the first vol. was just for warm up, for me the second is waaay better and interesting^^ But we have to know the main characters and know their personalities:D

I feel like it's cheating to count manga as books towards my reading challenge but we are getting down to the GRIND now. I love this anime, even though the ending was spoiled for me so I never finished it. I'm hoping the manga will be a worthwhile revisiting for me. So far so good...
