Explanation During Books The Meerkats of Summer Farm: The True Story of Two Orphaned Meerkats and the Family Who Saved Them

The Colliers are a pretty normal family: mum, dad, two kids, two dogs and two cats ... Oh, and a few wallabies, two lemurs, several owls, Ringo the bad-tempered crane and two cheeky, hand-reared meerkats named Wren and Rascal.
THE MEERKATS OF SUMMER FARM is the remarkable story of a year at Axe Valley Bird and Animal Park, following the birth of the adorable young kits. In her charming and often hilarious memoir, Jayne Collier describes how these two playful and ever-curious creatures became the park's star attraction and - in spite of permanent damage to her kitchen floor and occasional (subterranean) breaks for freedom - found a permanent place in the family's heart.

Write-Up Of Books The Meerkats of Summer Farm: The True Story of Two Orphaned Meerkats and the Family Who Saved Them

I began this little book this morning and finished it now. It's a very easy read and would suit youngsters interested in animals. It is a true story and apparently you can visit this animal sanctuary in Devon. The title says it all. It would be suitable to read to young children also.

Short, easy to read, gentle and charming. There is nothing wrong with this book at all, and I enjoyed reading it, however it isn't hugely dramatic or harrowing. It is simply 'nice' throughout. It does have the feel of more a magazine story, rather like an extended coffee-time read. The small wildlife park owned by the Author and her family also comes across as a great place to visit too.Overall - nice but lacking bite.

A lovely account of how one family managed to fulfill their dream of expanding their own menagerie to share with others. They seemed like genuinely nice people and I'm glad pictures were included!
